Steffi and Elise met in Tallahassee, Florida, during the mid-1990s through the acquaintances of mutual artist friends. Steffi was immediately taken with Elise's colorful, flambouyant style, and her infectious sense of humor. The two women became fast friends and first collaborated in 2001 with "In A Secret Garden," a song that tells of the dreamy surrealism accompanying new love. "Elise's poetry beckons me to write. She has a natural lyrical style that lends itself well to music, and it's a challenge and a privilege for me as a songwriter to give her poems melody." |
